Information about RAJGAD FORT
Rajgad is called as "king of forts" and "Fort of Kings". This marvelous Fort is 50 kilometre away from Pune. Shivaji Maharaj added Torna Fort to Swaraj and he was attracted by Murumbadeva's hill near it. Watching this high, inaccessible hill, Shivaji Maharaj was very delighted and then he decided to build a fort here.
Coincidentally, the treasure was unexpectedly found on Todna which will be used to build this Fort.
The Bale killa ( small Fort) is in the the middle of the the Raigad and there three machees around it. Out of this, padmawatipadmawati machee is shorter in length but broader. So, Padmavati Temple, Palace, Royal Court, Dhol Kathi, padmawati tank etc.were built there. The machee whos construction started on the the auspicious time am is called 'Suvela'machee . Huge through and through tu bol in the the Cliff is is astonishing. To the west of the fort, is Sanjeevani machee.
This huge machee is spread over a a large area. It has double fortification with armour for protection every bastion and an under ground way for getting into the bastion.
This is an excellent example of of architecture . The tedious way to Bale killa, Chandra tank, Janai temple and Baramharshi temple are worth seeing.
